Beauty is often framed as a race against time. SK-II’s LXP range takes a different view: rather than correcting or resisting change, it treats time as part of skin’s natural radiance.

The opportunity was to make LXP’s philosophy tangible in a bespoke pop-up in Hangzhou, China: a world that could communicate the value of its unique ingredient story through ritual, material and atmosphere.

Idea

We developed the concept for an immersive pop-up, translating LXP’s principles into a slow, sensory experience that brings product discovery, consultation and treatment into one continuous world.

A gold line leads visitors through the space, connecting each chapter of the journey. It appears in illuminated vessels, across the garden and throughout the architecture, drawing on kintsugi’s belief that marks of time carry value.

At the heart of the space, a monumental kintsugi vessel invites guests inside a sculptural interpretation of LXP’s philosophy, becoming an immersive focal point for the journey around it.

Visitors pause in a Chinese garden for tea and poetry, receive a drop of PITERA, SK-II’s hero ingredient, through a digital interaction, and explore the LXP range.

Rice-paper consultation spaces and open treatment areas add a more intimate layer, allowing for personalised guidance and facial experiences without breaking the atmosphere of calm.

Natural stone, bespoke ceramics and gold-lit kintsugi lines give the experience a tactile richness, while locally sourced planting and Chinese tea culture ground it in Hangzhou. The result remains true to SK-II while feeling specific to its setting.
