Annabel, what’s inspired you recently?

“I recently visited Milan Design Week – my first time! I was so ready to explore the city and be immersed into all the eye-catching installations and exclusive product launches.

It felt like a true treasure hunt, wondering what design gems I’d stumble across, and it did not disappoint. Here’s a selection of some of my favourites:”

Luxe retail design inspo - Louis Vuitton at Milan Design Week
Louis Vuitton - Objets Nomades

“My first stop was Louis Vuitton’s Nomad Pavilion by Marc Fornes.

A futuristic bubble-like form sculpted the centre of the historical palazzo courtyard, brought to life by 1,600 anodised extra-thin aluminium sheets and each having its own unique shape. I could have spent hours there!”

Louis Vuitton installation - Luxe retail design production house StudioXAG
Byredo - Bal d'Afrique

“Celebrating one of Byredo’s most iconic scents, collaborating with artist Dozie Kanu explores the malleability of memory and evoking the essence of African culture through a conceptual set.

The structure was made from rattan, the entryways peeled away creating the perfect glimpse into the space. It felt like I was being welcomed into his family home, surrounded by archival objects that were influential in Kanu’s upbringing.”

Concept store design inspiration
Google - Shaped by Water

“The exhibition was created to celebrate the importance of water, a muse for Google’s latest products.

An immersive and sensorial installation, which included a series of mirror tubes with water that reacted to the movement of visitors, creating humming vibrations and dynamic patterns.”

Loewe Chair Exhibition, Milan Design Week (Dezeen)
Loewe - Chairs

“Loewe worked with global artisans to transform classic wooden chairs into a series of sculptural objects all being displayed within a beautiful historic palazzo.

I loved the unexpected materials from silver foil to fluffy white fur. It was super playful.”
