We’re committed to sustainability in retail design + production
We’re excited to launch a sustainability programme intended to align our strategy, processes and operations, with an aim to become sustainable leaders in the retail display industry.
Our industry is wasteful and we want to do our bit to make things better. We know we’re not perfect, but we are committed to making changes that will add up. From our design strategy to waste management, we are approaching the topic of sustainability from all angles to make a positive change, one step at a time.
We are actively seeking out new relationships with companies who are pioneering sustainable practices, and we’re encouraging those we already work with to innovate in this field. We’d love to work with more sustainably minded clients too.
Earlier this year we came together as a studio to discuss our objectives for the year ahead. One of our key focuses was the aim to contribute to a sustainable future and improve our green credentials. We felt we could do more when it came to materials selection, our internal systems, deliveries, installations and disposal methods.
Over the last few months we have:
- Formed an internal sustainability team which aims to push sustainable practices through design, project management and production departments.
- Planted 500 trees in Brazil, carried out on our behalf by Carbonfund – just one way in which we are attempting to reduce our business’ carbon footprint.
- Substituted our most used sheet material MDF, to Ecologique – a more environmental formaldehyde-free alternative.
- Reviewed the waste disposal and recycling companies we use in an attempt to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill. We’ve recently teamed up with Veolia who ensure none of our waste goes to landfill.
- Switched our energy providers and installed new systems. Over 50% of our energy is now renewable and we’ll be improving on that in the next year.
- Organised an internal programme of talks and presentations delivered by sustainability experts and representatives from our supply chain, to increase our understanding of the challenges and possible approaches to sustainable practices.
This is just the beginning. It’s an on-going process.
