We’re phasing out plastic and investing in some innovative solutions to traditional packaging. We’ll be using the next year to test and trial different products, eventually working towards our goal of 100% recycled and recyclable packaging by next year.
To pad out boxes, we’ve begun to use Hivewrap – it’s a type of pre-cut paper which comes flat on a roll and then magically expands 60% of its original size once it’s been pulled. It’s completely biodegradable and extremely satisfying to use.
We’ve also replaced traditional plastic tape with a water-activated version. A special machine coats the adhesive paper tape with a layer of water which creates a strong bond, leaving the box safely packaged but easily to dismantle and recycle once it’s reached its destination.
