Milan Design Week 2024 Born in Oasi Zegna

Zegna have released a new book “Born in Oasi Zegna.” Oasi Zegna is Zegna’s forest in Piemonte, Northern Italy.

They created an exhibition where they brought the forest indoors. It was simple, but effective and it smelled absolutely incredible, like forest perfume.

Milan Design Week 2024 On The Earth by Hermès

The Hermès “On The Earth” exhibition was great! They created this raised pathway where you walked between different types of natural materials as they converged: raw earth, terracotta, bricks, rock and wood. They were arranged in two concentric rectangles to evoke the pattern of a vintage Hermès jockey’s blouse.

They also presented their contemporary design products against vintage items from their archive, to show what inspired them.

Plus they had a cafe with free coffee, and a Hermes napkin!

This was 70’s heaven! Filled with beautiful red rugs, benches, tables and chairs, it was a recreation of Danish architect and designer Verner Panton’s iconic design for Restaurant Varna in Denmark.

Milan Design Week 2024 “Making Sense of Color” by Google

Google asked themselves the question: What if you could hear, feel, smell and taste colour?

With the world’s longest queue, this immersive, spatial experience was worth the wait. The highlight was a light and sound installation which aimed to translate colour into noise, using algorithmically connected sound waves and sequenced lighting.

Aesop store at Piazza Cordusio

Milan Design Week 2024 Aesop at Piazza Cordusio

Hundreds or even thousands of humble looking soaps clad the interior of the Aesop store, and customers were led in small groups to experience a gentle hand washing, hand moisturising, and some fragrance spritz.

“I walked out feeling very grounded and relaxed as it felts like a very meditative space inside.”

Milan Design Week 2024 Opposites United: Intersections Beyond Boundaries

This was an unmissable floor-to-ceiling immersive spectacle by Kia! The rooms were filled with projections with mirrored walkways to maximise the experience.

A central infinity mirror room with hanging LED strings fed through pulsing colour changes that was synced with the music.

#coloureffects by Margrethe Odgaard sensory interactive installation
#coloureffects by Margrethe Odgaard stackable emotions display

Milan Design Week 2024 #coloureffects by Margrethe Odgaard

Hosted by Kvadrat, this installation demonstrated a playful way of figuring out colour preferences based on “emotions cards”.

Stackable upholstered blocks allowed you to interchange different colours and textures to see how you felt. Our design team loved this hands-on approach to making colour decisions.

House of Switzerland by Presence Switzerland and Pro Helvetia

Milan Design Week 2024 House of Switzerland by Presence Switzerland and Pro Helvetia

House of Switzerland was a collection of Swiss designs; a super playful curation where industrial forms were made playful through colour. And lots of swings!

We saw some amazing moving pieces that explored the visual and emotional potential of a robotic arm by connecting it to the realms of art and design.

Milan Design Week 2024 Hello, Earth Speaking by StudioXAG and The Good Plastic Company

And last, but by no means least – it’s our installation!

Created using Polygood®, a 100% recycled and recyclable material from The Good Plastic Company, we designed the concept to prove that waste plastic can be used for good. The collaboration sought to show how the design industry can work in tandem with the Earth, not against it.
