Laure, what’s inspired you recently?

As a Project Manager at XAG, I’m always looking for inspiration from materials and shapes, thinking of ways we can incorporate new techniques and finishes into our work.

The examples I’ve pulled out here are some of my recent favourites. I love the way each installation or sculpture tells a story and makes you feel.

‘When winds wants the water’ by Jacob Talkowski

XAG Loves: Laure ‘When winds wants the water’ by Jacob Talkowski

I really enjoyed Jacob Talkowski’s ’When winds want the water’ exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. It challenges our relationship with the environments and the spaces we inhabit. I was particularly drawn to the contrast between the fragility of the takeaway boxes and the strength and boldness that the takeaway boxes have as a collective.

XAG Loves: Laure ‘Boundless’ by Christo and Jeanne-Claude

A tale of transformation and temporary disruption; this piece by Christo and Jeanne-Claude at the Saatchi Gallery truly inspires me with how it challenges the ordinary and pushes the audience to reconsider their perception of objects and architectural environment.

Whilst working on a recent project that had a particular focus on metal furniture, I came across the beautiful piece by Mattia Bonetti. Its reflective nature reminded me how metal has such an interestingly dynamic interaction with light, shadow, and its surrounding space, adding an extra layer to the storytelling.

Crafted from robust, galvanised steel, I love how this piece challenges the conventional expectations of metal. The use of such a robust material invokes strength and stability while the addition of pleats refers to an element of softness, fabric,  fluidity, and movement, creating such a captivating contrast, almost frozen in time.
