For London Design Festival 2010, a collaboration with University of the Arts London celebrates the opening of its Arts Gallery. A life-sized tea party setting inside a scaled up shoebox, and orchestrated by two giant articulated hands. Using craft materials to replicate interior architecture, from the herringbone floor to the traditional fireplace and sash windows complete with shutters, emphasis is put on this being a model scaled-up. Playful shifts in scale are a running theme – the matchbox table complete with matchsticks for legs – and creates a whimsical environment to showcase an eclectic selection of design pieces. For the external observer, the spectacle is brought to life at the very moment someone steps inside.
