We were challenged with creating a series of in-store installations to promote a range of scents from LUSH Gorilla Perfumes; ‘Sun’ & ‘The Smell of Freedom’, ‘Stayin Alive’ & ‘The President’s Hat’. Each scent was inspired by first hand experiences and adventures of the Founder & Head Perfumer at LUSH.

‘Sun’ – A retro drive-in cinema complete with Cadillac style seating played host to festive film screenings over the holiday season.

‘The Scent of Freedom’ – A dark entrance tunnel with prison bars and emotive words dripped down the walls giving way to a bright and airy space to promote the scent. Filled with scented clouds and bright white neon light, the space evoked feelings of freedom after being trapped and incarcerated.

Later in the gallery’s programme, the Drive-In’s starry night sky setting was transformed into a beautiful sunset to promote the scent, filling the room with a sense of warmth and longings for the summer.

‘The President’s Hat’ – The space was transformed into a bustling French bistro inspired by the eponymous Antoine Laurain novel. Featuring bespoke wall illustrations depicting the Paris skyline, and an oversized talking hat which enveloped visitors in the story of this smoky, romantic fragrance.

‘Stayin Alive’ – An oversized vinyl dance floor and glitter curtain cladded walls completed this 70’s Disco inspired space, complete with spinning disco balls and nightclub inspired mirror seating.

Designed, built and installed by StudioXAG, the installations were updated regularly over the course of a year, to surprise and delight the LUSH customers.
